The Great Probiotic Debate: Will Probiotics Help IBS??

will probiotics help IBS? Using high quality probiotics with a high survival rate will put you on the right track with healthy bacteria in your GI tract and can help lessen IBS sypmtoms! Will probiotics help IBS? Well, it depends.

While some people like to rave over probiotics for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, there are others who will say it’s nothing but trouble.

Hmm??  That makes things real interesting, now doesn’t it?  So how do we answer the question: will probiotics help with IBS??

How do we get a clear answer from what I mentioned above?

It’s not a simple yes or no question, it’s more like ‘it depends’.

But I’m really going to explain why this is the answer and how to get yourself on the YES side of things.

I, myself, have experienced both the great and not-so-great effects of different probiotics.

The Yes Folks

will probiotics help IBS? Using high quality probiotics with a high survival rate will put you on the right track with healthy bacteria in your GI tract and can help lessen IBS sypmtoms! These are the IBS sufferers jumping for joy, as their probiotics helped them kick the yucky IBS symptoms or at least keep them under control for the most part.

They will talk up the best probiotics for IBS and these are the probiotics you want to look out for and give a try.

The products they’re using are high-quality and have better strains of probiotics as well as better ‘survivability’.

Survivability, meaning that these probiotics are more likely to survive digestion and make it to the GI tract where they are meant to work!

The No Folks

Let’s get the super cheap probiotics.  You know the ones, a crappy mainstream brand, pull them right off the shelf at practically any supermarket.

NO, NO and NOPE.  I will not buy these.

I’m looking for something a little more high quality, and with good reason.

I don’t mess with probiotics, I get the probiotics made with ME in mind.

Do you really know what a probiotic is and how will probiotics help IBS?

Cue the learning segment…

What Probiotics Are and What They Can Do For IBS:

will probiotics help IBS? Using high quality probiotics with a high survival rate will put you on the right track with healthy bacteria in your GI tract and can help lessen IBS sypmtoms!First, let’s touch on a very crucial point from Dr. Axe: “The first and most overlooked reason that our digestive tracts are critical to our health is because 80 percent of your entire immune system is located in your digestive tract! That is an astounding percentage.”

I LOVE Dr. Axe, as he gives some great info on various herbs, recipes, etc. for great gut health.

No wonder Irritable Bowel Syndrome has us feeling so crumby!  We learn something new everyday.

Not only can probiotics help ease our IBS, but many other chronic illnesses as well, whoa take some time to internalize that information!

But my main point about probiotics is that they add nice healthy bacteria to our gut.

Healthy bacteria means that we have healthier digestion, leading to less and less IBS symptoms!

Bad bacteria is toxic and these toxic bacteria create cramps, bloating and more.

Bacteria In the G.I. Tract

EWW.  Actually, our gut is made up of bacteria and it’s absolutely essential to have bacteria, but we want the good kind!

Just like when you want the good, home-made pizza and don’t want to settle for gas station pizza.

That gas station pizza is full of indigestion, IBS cramps and regret, just like the bad bacteria in our gut.

The good bacteria aids in proper digestion, keeping things moving along the way they should, instead of utter chaos that IBS brings.

Too much bad bacteria will only worsen IBS.

Will probiotics help IBS if they’re in yogurt???

I recommend steering clear of store bought yogurts and trying something like this yogurt starter.

Many of the reviewers on amazon make yogurt using this starter weekly!

  1. This blog post is for me. I have been suffering with a “grumpy” stomach for about a year now. Out of the blue, it seems everything I eat causes bloating and stomach discomfort. I recently started researching probiotics, so I am glad to learn more on the topic in the post. There are so many options to choose from, this helps me narrow it down a bit. THANKS.
