This disease includes Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.
IBD causes severe pain as well as diarrhea, weight loss and fatigue.
You can have this illness from mild to severe, and while it’s a very small number, very serious cases can kill you.
Treating IBS vs IBD Symptoms
Since the two illnesses differ, they involve different treatment options.
It’s important to know which of the two you are dealing with.
Consult a doctor for the best course of action.
In terms of self help, you have many options for both IBS and IBD.

IBS can typically be well-managed by diet changes.
My best recommendation is to look into a low FODMAP diet.
In addition to a low FODMAP diet, avoid your own personal food triggers.
Triggers simply trigger IBS symptoms and flare ups.
If you think this pain is bad, you’ve got nothing on IBD.

Treatment depends entirely on if you suffer from Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis.
The main goal is managing inflammation.
Typically this is done through medications or surgery.
However, natural anti-inflammatories may help.
Also, the low residue diet may help achieve remission, since Crohn’s has no cure.
Believe it or not, many with Ulcerative Colitis also have depression.
